Independent Afghan TV news station TOLO has won the 2016 Agence France-Presse Kate Webb Prize for its consistently fearless work reporting in one of the world's most dangerous countries.

The prize, with a 3,000 euro purse, honours journalists working in perilous or difficult conditions in Asia, and is named after a crusading AFP reporter who died in 2007 at the age of 64, after a career covering the world's troublespots -- including Afghanistan.

The Moby Group chief Saad Mohseni and the Vice News founder Shane Smith want to capture the eyeballs of the male millennial.

A male septuagenarian is helping to show them how.

"I always joke that we have the same godfather," says Mr Mohseni. "One of the people who most influenced Shane was also a person who has been very critical to us – which is Tom Freston."

The former Viacom chief and veteran media executive Mr Freston sits on the boards of both companies.

As a part of the agreement between MOBY and Fauna Entertainment Kukuli will be available in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, and the MENA countries to come. Kukuli will provide pleasant and family-friendly quality time in front of the television for the children of these countries.

Kukuli will be translated in 13 languages.
