Dubai, April 4th, 2016 - MOBY GROUP, a leading media and entertainment company, today announced the launch of a new Ethiopian-focused TV channel, “Kana TV”. Kana TV is a joint-venture between local co-founders who hold extensive experience in production, media and entertainment and MOBY GROUP.
Kana is an Ethiopian focused general entertainment, free-to-air, satellite TV channel bringing international standard programming to the Ethiopian public. This new channel is managed by an outstanding team of Ethiopians based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and will deliver compelling programming tailored especially towards its Ethiopian audiences.
Kana TV has partnered with BeMedia, a 100% Ethiopian owned local production entity led by Zeresenay Berhane Mehari, a Kana TV co-founder and noted filmmaker. Across BeMedia and Kana TV, the team is now composed of over 100 Ethiopians, mostly young ambitious graduates from Ethiopia’s top fine arts universities.
The initial offerings will be a mix of localized content dubbed into Amharic and originally produced programming. Available on Nilesat frequency 12226, Kana has plenty to delight and inspire a new generation of proud, enthusiastic and ambitious Ethiopians.
